Improve active flexibility and compression strength to gain greater control through pancake, straddle, and pike positions while building strength for compression-based skills.
This 30-minute beginner-to-intermediate workout combines flexibility with active strength to develop more usable range of motion. You’ll move from loaded mobility into compression exercises and active leg lifts, completing the main circuit multiple times to build strength and control through pike, pancake, and straddle positions.
Use this workout 1–2 times per week alongside your flexibility, handstand, or calisthenics training. It works especially well as a dedicated compression session or before skill work that requires active pike or straddle strength, such as L-sits and press handstands.
Don’t confuse flexibility with active control. Being able to reach a deep pike or pancake doesn’t necessarily mean you can actively use that range. Focus on lifting and controlling your legs without relying on momentum.
